kbd-chooser software package provides Detect a keyboard and select layout, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kbd-chooser
kbd-chooser is installed in your system.
Make ensure the kbd-chooser package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep kbd-chooser *
You will get with kbd-chooser package name, version, architecture and description in a table
